History of Our Church
Welcome. Our church is loosely rooted in the protestant reformation and free-church tradition. By 1790, Baptists (those who practiced Baptism of believers only and by immersion, as taught in Scripture and the example of Jesus) had began to organize and expand. At this time Baptists organized missionary societies to spread the Christian lifestyle to others. It was these mission societies that led to other organizational structures that would eventually define and make a denomination of Baptists. The first annual convention of the Southern Baptists was held in 1845. In this convention the International Mission Board and the North American Mission Board were established. The purpose of each board is still “the propagation of the gospel," with one board focusing on national issues and the other on foreign issues.
Friendship is still committed to the cause of world missions, both at home and abroad. Originally founded in 1979, the church has meet just off of Hwy 50 since 1980.

In 2008, the church experienced a “fresh start.” We invite you to become a part of the continuing history—literally His story—at Friendship Baptist Church.
